Czech Lager, the very first pale lager to ever exist. Seven out of every Ten beers consumed in the world are pale lagers, but the Czech Pilsner is the true OG. We’ve decided to have our version of this classic style pay tribute to some OG’s of our favorite hockey team. Brewed with traditional Czech Saaz hops and bittered up to 30 IBU, it has the grittiness of Clarke, Parent and Shultz. Built upon bohemian floor-malted pilsner malt, it has a Hart of gold. At 4.7% ABV it crushes just as hard as the Legion of Doom. Lagered for over 4 weeks, this pilsner is as crisp as a pair of freshly sharpened skates so grab your sweater, crack a cold one and get ready to watch the boys play with some jam!

Pours a pale straw color with a nose that has the light essence of pilsner malts. The flavor is very traditional for the style. The body is light, even for a traditional pils.

My preference for this style tends to run more non-traditional - I like my pils slightly hoppier than the norm. So, take this review with a grain of salt.

Poured from a fresh Crowler from the brewery.

A - Slightly hazy medium yellow gold, light carbonation, thin white lacing.

S - Crisp, crackery malt aroma with earthy citrus, light spice and pepper.

T - Follows the nose: crisp honey Graham malt base with earthy citrus over the top, some spicy lemon rind, grapefruit rind, finishes with a crisp citrus bitterness that lingers (along with a slight malt sweetness).

M - Big medium body with light pricklies on the tongue give way to a soft finish.

O - This is a really fantastic Pilsner and nicy done. 'Would like to see more breweries do this style. Nice job McCall!
