Now this is a story all about how the IPA category got flipped, turned upside down. We’d like to take a minute just sit on down we’ll tell you why West Coasts still wear the crown. Just North of Philadelphia, born and raised, Phresh Coast is delicious and devoid of haze. Chillin out at 6% relaxin all cool, Cashmere and Nugget are keepin’ it old school. Not worried about the lactose hazys in the neighborhood, Phresh keeps it crisp and clean (everything that’s good). When you pop the tab and bring it near, the aroma says fresh and there’s some bitterness here. If anything you’d say that this style is rare but it’s not homes, so share!

Pours a light copper color with a finger of head. A little pine a little citrus and a little floral are present in the nose. The flavor has the same combination of notes, but nothing really pops. The body is fairly hearty for the style.

Had on tap at the source.

A - Medium to dark copper colored pour with creamy white lacing and light carbonation.

S - Light caramel grain malt base with pine and citrus over top.

T - Light caramel malt with some notable grain presence, citrus, grapefruit, and light pine and citrus bitterness.

M - Medium body with a small amount of thinness around the edges. Very balanced on the finish with residual citrus.

O - Unobtrusive, balanced, and easy drinking.

Poured from 16oz can into pint glass in January 2023. There was no canned date on the label or can, and I drank this about 2 months after purchase at their Hamilton Street location.

Appearance: Dark gold color with 2-finger white head. It is a bright and has a very hazy complexion, like other IPAs. Head is very thick, and it lasts a minute time, leaving a small covering. There is a medium amount of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Moderate aroma of citrus like grapefruit, pine, and hops, as well as some sweetness like pineapple. Also, a little earthy or straw aroma. Overall, the citrus aroma dominates the other aromas.

Taste: Sweet fruity taste with a some bitter hops edge. There is also a nice malt sweetness as well. There is a typical hops and citrus flavor, but with some sweetness as well. This is bitter like most other West Coast IPAs, but it is well-balanced and not too bitter. Has a nice after-taste that lasts a long time. Overall a nice balance and very drinkable.

Mouthfeel: Moderate feel with a medium-strong body, which makes this very drinkable. Average/Medium strong alcohol, which matches the 6% listed.

This is a good and interesting West Coast IPA. It has a nice mix of citrus, grapefruit, hops, malt, and other flavors, which makes it enjoyable. I like the overall balance, and that the citrus flavors are pronounced but do not dominate the flavor. It has similar hop edge as with other IPAs, but this is smoother and better balanced. I prefer their Liquid Label IPAs, but would like to drink this again, and hope to travel back to their facility to buy more.
