According to the guy at the brewery this beer was designed to be a historical representation of an early American porter brewed with treacle and molasses. 22oz bottle from the source pours a solid clear dark brown color with a smattering of tan bubbles on top. Aroma and flavor are hints of chocolate with lots of rummy bready caramel and a solid hit of earthy hops. High level of carbonation leads to a bubbly mouthfeel and a somewhat medium to thin body. Nothing like the thick viscous American porters these days, but its a very clean, well made and interesting example of a historically made brew.
