Our flagship lager is inspired by the river that runs to the south of our hometown of Red Bank—the scenic Shrewsbury. Low in bitterness and high in malt character and complexity, the subtle use of hops makes a balanced, refreshing lager with a crisp, dry finish, perfect for drinking on a boat, a beach, a deck, or just about anywhere!

Really nice dark amber color. At least medium carbonation with about average body.
Aroma is malt, molasses, toasted cereal, dark honey, earthy whole grain flour.
Taste is not as sweet as I assumed with it coming off just a bit dry and bitter. Toasted cereal, grainy bread, malt, molasses, and whole wheat flour.
Really nice well done beer that I would look for again.

Picked this up recently at the Bottle King in Morris Plains, having never seen this or even hearing of Ross before. Loved the can and the name as the information on their site in line with the nature (no pun intended!) of that and the liquid inside too. Not often I get to review a beer of this type but this was a textbook example of the style that was balanced, smooth, and easy to drink without cutting any corners!

This had a nice, copper hue to it as it shone beautifully when held up to the light. Plenty of white head topped it off as this looked as close to bread as I've seen in quite a long time. Only a ring about a third of the way down the side of my pint glass remained as the suds diminished, but never fully gave way. I wish this had more of an aroma to it as subtle hints of nuts, caramel, and darker malts needed to be a bit more bold, but the taste and feel were much more in line with what I expected. A light bitterness, lasting and subtle feel of bread, light tea-like spice, and hint of floral notes made me think of Yuengling, as a coppery metallic aftertaste and lively carbonation gave this a bit more life and depth without ensuring that anything would come across as too heavy.

Session beers? This was nearly one as I'd easily reach for it again had there been another can on hand. Dated on the bottom from 10/21 of last year, this held up beautifully as there wasn't any sediment or evidence that this felt old or skunked. Lightly slick and sticky on my lips, this was a beer that finished clean and would be great for nearly any situation year-round. Glad I found this as the lack of bitterness and ease of accessibility left me wanting to have another offering from Ross...

A: The beer is very hazy dark brown in color with some reddish hues. It poured with a short beige colored head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with notes of nutty malts.
T: The taste of this beer has lots of flavors of dark and pale malts. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. As the beer warms up, the finish becomes a bit dry.
O: This lager is quite malty but has just enough underlying hops to mask any sweetness without being overly bitter.
