This was an unexpected find late last year, as I came across it at the Total Wine in Totowa while looking for other offerings. Love how this had a 6.2% ABV and a 6.2 SRM, since Judge ended up hitting 62 home runs last year. While this beer certainly wasn't a loser, it could have been a bit more noteworthy, given everything that was behind it.
Like any New England IPA, this was plenty cloudy with a melon hue to it. Enough head topped it off as the lacing left behind was concentrated along the top third of my pint glass. Tons of melon and stone fruit were in the nose as that was also the case in terms of the taste. A bit of lime, peach, and pith were present in the aroma as they were much more pronounced in the mouthfeel. Citrus pith and stone fruit and dank hops came forth once this fully warmed up although this wasn't terribly strong or overpowering with the end result being a beer that was plenty turbid, fruity, and tailor-made for the warmer months.
The Mosaic and Galaxy weren't overpowering but could be felt in the aftertaste once this fully warmed up, as the dankness of the beer was nearly all in it's back end. Dated 11/10 of last year with "62 HOME RUNS ALL TIME RECORD" written below it, this held up well over the last six months as it was a textbook New England IPA that had enough going for it without standing out in any particular aspect. If you're into this style, this was worth standing up for, like an at bat from #99 himself!
