My 700th reviewed Beer Advocate beer.
Had a couple of drafts of this at the Axemann Brewery, along with a take out 6 pack.
LOOK: Amber color, tan head, decent retention and side glass lace.
AROMA: Malts with caramel sweetness some nutty character.
TASTE: Again some caramel sweetness, molasses, roasted malts.
More sweet than I would prefer, but very true to the Vienna Lager style criteria.

Poured into a pint glass: color is amber, head is light tan with fine bubbles, presents 1 inch plus thick, then dissipates to solid top with some lacing.
Smell is limited with light sweet malt, hint of nuttiness, limited noble hop notes of grass and earth.
Taste is light sweet malt, light touch of nutty malt, hint of caramel, crisp hops with notes of herbs and grass.
Mouthfeel is crisp, moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, fairly strong bitterness for the style.
Overall a good vienna lager with malt forward flavors and subtle hop notes, drinkable but just a touch bitter.

DATE: September 10, 2020... OCCASION: football is back and needed, to a degree... GLASSWARE: Sam Adams lager... set against my haul of fests today, this looks the part--a dark orange amber body teeming with bubbles, its head a thick clout of off-white creamy fluff that creates coral around the glass's lip... attractive... fresh noble hops, cereal oats and malts, slight nuttiness, suppressed melon and lemon, and some lighter yeasts... not as full-bodied as it looks, but also portends its drinkability well... a medium-bodied offering, it has a smooth introduction and a grainy finish, with enough strength to balance its easy drinkability... it doesn't linger, but it does impart its flavor aptly as it exits... a lightly roasted, nutty, sweetly enticing lager with enough hops to hint at their noble spiciness... this works nicely in the fall, when malt-forward lagers are the preferred fare... this is drinkable and sessionable, worth sipping and savoring in its own right... slick, wet and tasty, it aptly kicks off the NFL season and holds a gray area between summer and fall...
