Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Aroma is heavy coffee, to the point it smoothers out dark fruits, and the roasty & toasty malts underneath. Coffee has the consistency of a light bodied cold brew coffee, which is an unwelcome juxtaposition to the heavy and hearty stout underneath. Flavor profile opens with dark fruits and toffee, before being dominated by heavy coffee. Again, coffee has a bold and flat dynamic akin to cold brew. Barrel shows up late. Coffee breaks up the flow of this heavy stout from start to finish. Mouth feel is thick. It's not quite creamy, but nearing that texture. Overall, a boozy pour of coffee. Coffee really kills the mojo of the base imperial stout here, and that's from an avid coffee fan.

Draft. 2022 vintage, consumed/noted fresh. Reviewed from notes.
