Clear brown pour, nice head and lacing. Nose says bitter coffee, taste buds agree, a bit of bite from the rye. It was a bit thin. Not something I'd buy again.

Bought from Beermiscuous. While I've had 8 now from Brewer's Kitchen, six were in the Belgian tradition. And Crown is an impressive switch. It innovates the stout, adding rye for spiciness with fewer hops. The rest of Crown seems familiar. So it succeeds because its innovation is simple: rye in the malt bill. Nothing extreme. A simple progression.
Notorious Crown does not Look its name, really nothing fancy. Smells also typical for the style: chocolate, coffee. Tastes add the spicy rye and, to my favor, uses less hops than typical to the American interpretation of the stout.
Overall, an achievement. I again can easily have Crown instead of dessert as I did tonight. High compliments from an old sweet tooth.
