As on UnTappd, this collaboration appears under both breweries. That's fine with me; but I put it here because it was brewed and canned at Duneyrr.

While I find this hefe very interesting, it is not half as interesting as the collaboration. As we in Chicagoland are fortunate to know, Art History is one of the most thoughtful micros specializing in the Bavarian tradition and, to boot, has world-class, beautiful labels to package its likewise lagers. So, they get together with this Duneyrr (whom I seem to know hazily from a previous life, but can't remember much about.) Duneyrr has invented a niche I only know them to occupy: to treat brewing and wine-making nearly equally. They have a fabulous space/taproom/winebar that I want to visit (but I've wanted to visit Art History for several years now and haven't... so you assign probability of desire over reality.)

Anyhow, about this brew... Moderne Art #1 is why micros collaborate. The brew is not great (and may not be for several releases.) But it is a world of interesting. First innovation, I do not recall drinking a hefe with a spicy grain in it like rye. Second innovation, I do not recall having a hefe with a muted mixed-culture/Wild/Brett/whatever is making it tart. But all this is good, even for a traditionalist like me, because it is done well. (Actually if I tasted a hefe banana yeast in this innovation, I'd think someone was playing me.) Bottom-line: I want another one to know what I missed the first time. Prost !
