Carried contactless from the curb at Beermiscuous Lakeview ... who by selling Y'all has really outdone themselves as my place to get off-beat Chicagoland micros.
Less than a six months on BA, Liquid Love has stumped me. Lighter than Pale, this is a golden; but goldens have hops to balance the sweetness of malt becoming too fruity... and Y'All has no hops apparent. Y'All could be an American stout because the style's definition tolerates added flavors; but stouts almost definitionally have roasted malts, even some of the blonde ones. Stuck on a styling dilemma, I referred to UnTappd and they have a style for Golden Ales; which is where Y'all is... but BA does not have this same category. And I review the first time I have an ale on BA ... so process has to deal with an imperfect world.
Styles aside, this is an interesting ale... after about the third sip. The first sip is additives. The second attempt is thin. By the third attempt, I get what the brewer probably intended... which is a sweet novelty to share. And my advice is to not drink this alone. Cheers !
