Humpback Island Lager is an American take on a German Lager. It’s a straw colored light bodied beer with a mild earthy hop aroma and a hint of citrus. Humpback Island Lager has a moderate billowy head and a clean refreshing finish.

simple, light, my first from these guys, a beachside refresher not long after we landed on the big island, what a way to get rolling on vacation, just my second beer there, i dont really get a lot of german character despite the description here, but its easy down, warm weather beer without more malt character than it needs and a pretty clean ferment, not the most refreshing lager i had while in hawaii, but i wont pass one of these up either. this has a nice clear look to it, pure yellow, almost watered down looking but well refined and with huge soda bubbles that dont quite stay in suspension ideally, the head is average from the can, and short lived. the aroma on this hints at some european pils malt i will concede, hops are light and way back, even at temperature, and there is a nice mineral profile here keeping it round. the lagering is decently tidy, this is dry, and the low alcohol is majorly appealing in the hot heat, but it doesnt drink overly minimal to me, more crafty than just a macro lager type on the palate. faint grassiness to the hops could pass as noble, but bitterness is way low. good with salty food and richer greasy stuff, its clean and cleansing, if short of fully amazing overall, it hits the spot, feels like vacation without being flavored, and kind of hits in that blue collar space. nice carbonation, best when ice cold, and i was happy to make it over to the other side of the island to check out their brewery a couple days later, great space, solid beers!

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly died down, leaving a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of sweet, corn-like malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of grainy malts along with a faint bit of sweetness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, clean and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This lager has a ver nice mouthfeel and goes down very easily.
