2022 vintage (bottle 383 of 523); consumed on 12/12/2022

Pours a silken, motor-oil black hue capped with a short-lived finger of rich, mocha foam, yielding a blank void encircled by a firm, creaky collar and no lacing whatsoever clinging to the walls of the glass.

Aromas of fresh-baked molasses cookies deed into dark cherry esters as raw cacao finds a firm malt char and dry, seasoned oak pronounces.

Taste opens to dark bakers chocolate and intermittent sensations of prickly oak, while dark cherry esters imprint on the mid-palate and raw cacao on the back end builds to a malt char on the finish.

Mouthfeel features a body on the lighter end of medium and with minimal carbonation; a silky texture eases to delicate creaminess lingering in the backdrop as a wispy, potently bittering spritz emerges from a weighty bog through the back end to a conclusion marked by a semi-sticky, inevitably drying finish.

A char focus overwhelms, though is not without nuance, deepening to distant peaks of authentic bakery sensation holding form just firmly enough for distinguished impact; a brooding malt potency, both ambitious and intense.
