The Original Brut Ale
Tiny Bubs Brewing Co. (Tiny Bubbles)

12 oz. can. Cloudy orange. I know it doesn't smell of salt, but it smells like a salty beer. Slightly briny? Is that the word? Light fruity yeast notes. Tastes of tinges of citrus, salt, and fruity brett character. Light. Low carbonation, surprisingly. It's not what I expected, although I suppose it's exactly as described. Simple and drinkable, but also dull.

Well done. Versatile. Refreshing. Tart.
I bought two 12 ounce cans from Tavour.

I find it hard to Look a gose in the eye and say "yum-yum;" so let's call the Original Brut an average Looker. Smells improve and are honest by telling me something tart is coming. Tastes are not too tart, though; actually well-balanced, a little brett, enough salt to go with food. A nice long, dry finish with enough bubbles to cleanse the palate for more food.

Gose is a provincial style from Leipzig that American crafters have innovated; actually having a lot of fun with sometimes. My emerging discovery is that the American renditions are good accompaniment to mild summer fare. This Original Brut paired with salads, BBQ, burgers, fries.

Tiny Bubs derives itself from the famous Lost Abbey based in San Diego. So the Original Brut's quality at the summer table is explained. And less than a year old, Tiny Bubs certainly has a cool website and, I presume, really good marketing from the parent. All said, I like to try some more of their offerings... if I can find them.
