Dark rusty brown tone, ample foam at first with a broken skim later. Ample concentric rings of lacing.
Nutty and malty aroma, pecan, sure why not. Honestly the smoke isn’t really noticeable at all.
Taste is similarly malt forward with imperceptible smoke. Somewhat astringent and finishes dry. Medium bodied with astringency that implies thinness. Carb level is lower, and a light woodiness in the aftertaste.
Overall it’s a pretty typical brown ale, the smoked malt isn’t assertive enough to call it a Smoked Beer. Be wary of charlatans purporting to already know “how a brewery brews” in their first months open. No one is an expert on day one, and we all have something to learn.

This is a smoked beer, but it also is a subtly smoked brown ale. While I enjoyed the smoked malt, I'd also like to taste this recipe side by side without the smoked malt.
Millie opens Looking average for a brown ale, more foam and clarity might help its Looks. Smells, now we are talking... but the smoke remains subtle despite its dominance. Tastes are balanced; I'm enjoying sweet malt. Many would consider Millie on the thin side... but this is how Orkenoy brews. In part this is because they brew for their kitchen.
And their kitchen is what I want to visit again... and sense further how it fits with Millie and the gang of brews.
