Poured a dark ruby amber into the glass with a small head. A "Dunkles" is a "dark" in German. Has a malty smell and taste. Well made Franken Dark bier.

Sampled on-tap at the brewery pub.
This beer poured a clear, very dark reddish brown color with creamy, tan foam that settled slowly and clung to the glass, making some lacing. The smell was malty with notes of caramel and chocolate. A good aroma, but mild. The taste was malty with a little flavor of barley. There was a light sweetness and a very mild hoppiness. There were notes of caramel and light chocolate. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with medium-full body and moderate carbonation. The malty flavors lingered pleasantly in the aftertaste. This was a good, enjoyable beer.
