0.5l bottle into a Willi Becher. Another one into a roundsided mug. Suits it much better.
Almost headless. Fantastic deep, round lager nose, bready sweetness, bitter slighty metallic crispness.
Intense windfallen apple bitterness arrival along with a tint sweet note. Another wave of bitterness in the development and a bitter finnish. Nearly all of the sweetness is in the nose. Dry compared to cheap vodka I'm having alongside.
Served at slightly higher temperature it's much more mellow and rounder tasting. Straw, apricot schnapps. Anise hint.
Best before march 2026, I'm not drinking this even nearly fresh enough. Suspect fresh enough is really some weeks after it leaves the brewery.

Pours a clear amber with airy head.
Smell is malty and a bit sweet with notes of syrup loaf, citrus and honey with some spicy hints.
Taste is crisp and malty with a moderate bitterness. Notes of white bread, honey, citrus and rye with some spicy hints.
Mouthfeel is medium with low carbonation. Gives this a cask feel, but not sure it was intended.
Overall, a very nice lager, with some question marks about the carbonation.

From the bottle, it pours a clear amber with a modest head. Grass and a touch of malt in the nose. The mouth gets the same, with a late hop hit that leaves of a bit of flavor in the mouth. Feels nice!

Pours a clear amber color with a small, bubbly white head.
Smells of old apricots, wet hay and lime zest, together with a whiff of dried grass.
Has a light, refreshing mouthfeel with a perfectly fitting medium carbonation, tied together by a late herbal dryness, which balances out the malts.
Tastes of slightly tart, toffee malts with a nice rustic note to them, gently entangled into lemon zest. Develops a pleasant, herbal, slightly fruity dryness, balancing the malts.
Finishes with even more gentle hop presence and its initial malt foundation.
Clean and inviting with a nice hoppy peak to it, perfectly balanced, light balanced and refreshing.

This beer is in many regards a standard Kellerbier of the Bamberg region. What sets it apart from any other beer that I had so far of this type is its hoppy aftertaste that is herbal and also peppery. Not sharp but long lasting. Like green pepper pepper. I am not sure if I entirely like this but it gets my points for standing out. It could grow on me.

Pale amber colour, tiny head, clear. Grassy aroma with notes of Saaz. Tasted bittersweet and peppery, uncomplex. Finish was long and peppery. Smooth mouthfull, body was slightly heavy for a Keller/Zwickel, low carbonation. Uncomplex rough and ready country style beer. Didn't stand out in a good or bad way.

Sampled on-tap at the brewery pub in Merkendorf.
This lager poured an amber color with white foam that settled. The smell was mild with a bit of maltiness detectable. The taste was tangy and somewhat zesty with nice maltiness and good hoppiness in balance. There was a slight taste of caramel malt. The mouthfeel was smooth and dry with medium body and low carbonation. It was malty throughout, but with a mild and lingering hoppy finish. This was a very enjoyable beer.
