New Ridge Brewing "Zwickel"
32 fl. oz. can (volume not listed on label but measured). Filled on 8/26 and sampled on 8/28/2020
Look: A slightly hazy deep golden body is capped by a finger's width of creamy white foam. Average head retention and lacing.
Smell: Fairly aromatic, sweetish, grainy, bready, and lightly grassy malt backed by softly floral hop notes. Very clean.
Taste: As the aroma suggests, balanced perfectly by a moderate bitterness that leaves it clean, crisp, and dry in the finish.
Feel: Medium to medium light in body with a crisp, fine-bubbled, seemingly natural carbonation.
Overall: Quite nicely done! This is an easy drinking zwickelbier/kellerbier that reminds me quite clearly of one I enjoyed on a lazy day in Vienna.
