New Ridge's Tangerine Berliner simply adds some tangerine to their Berliner Weiss. It's hazy and golden in appearance beneath a short head of white that drops almost immediately. That's, of course, to be expected for a sour beer, so OK. The aroma is a little bit like that of lemon pound cake although with an orange twist. The flavor follows and it's semi-sweet, grainy, fruity, and mildly tart. It's refreshing, but still beer-like. The 3.1% ABV is appropriate, and you can enjoy this one all day long if you wish - something that may not be true with a "Berliner Weisse" that's more acidic and which offers less added fruit flavor. On the other hand, I do miss a little bit of that Berliner weisse bite but it's up to you to decide.
