This is usually served in a 12oz glass due to higher abv, but being a mug-club member here I got a full pint! Bonus!!
The Cossack was inky-black in color, not allowing any light to penetrate at all. The tan head was full and creamy, lasting the duration of the quaff. Lacing was simply excellent!
Nose was rich and full, combining roasty malt and dark fruits into a lovely aroma. A bit of hops also made a cameo.
This bier was extremely smooth, one of the richer, creamier Imperials I have had. Body was not quite full, but it was so silky on the tongue.
Flavor, too, was in the rich and creamy category. Slight sweetness at first combined with some roasty malt. Next was a melange of dark fruits (currants, figs, raisins...). The finish added a subtle touch of hops to round things out. A verrry nice bier...and not as overpowering with the abv as some. Bring it on!! Prosit!!
