This is a double wit that’s a little less fruity & a lot bigger in flavor than our regular Wit.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Light coloured yet very lacey. A bit of citrus. Decent witbeer, though not a style I am easily impressed with. This one is a bit better quality than many wheat beers and thus better drinkability. Aromas of wheat, malt, yeast and mild spice.

Poured on-tap at the Portsmouth Brewery and served in a pint glass. The beer pours a cloudy, unfiltered, pale yellow coloring with no head. The beer has a muddled aroma, but the flavor is more round and boozey than their Belgian Wit. Definitely balances out the clove spices more with the robustness of sweet and boozey flavors. The beer has a thicker, smoother feel to it in mouth, but still clings to the glass like crazy. The afteraste is more honey-sweet malt, with a creamy and smooth finish. The Belgian Wit is good, but the Belgian Double Wit2 is really damn good.

This was served to me in a strait pint glass because of my pint club membership. There was a small white head that didn't last long leaving behind almost no lace. The body of the beer was a cloudy yellow in color.
Aromas' of spices, Clove and coriander are two that come to mind. There is also a light citrus note in the aroma. The flavors of the Belgian yeast are up front followed by light wheat sweetness. The body on the brew is towards the full side but it is to be expected, light carbonation as well.
I like this brew and will have one every once and a while to finish out my beer drinking session. A bit on the boozy side to be sessionable but very drinkable to me

Draught @ Brewpub: Served in a snifter. This one had a very small white head on it that didn't linger at all. It poured a very cloudy golden color. The aroma is good. I got notes of coriander, wheat, banana and lemon. The initial flavor is a touch sour. I detected wheat, sour banana, clove, and citrus. This is quite good.

Served in a snifter at the pub. Listed at 9% ABV.
Poured a hazy, golden blonde.
Smelled of lemony, tart, cotton candy and bubblegum!
Mouthfeel was full bodied, chewy and sticky.
Taste was not at all what I was expecting. Very smooth, almost like a full bodied Tripel or a lighter version wheat wine?!?!?
This did not taste at all like a standard wit but very enjoyable. Maybe a little TOO easy to drink for its 9 % ABV!
Nice work Tod and Tyler!

Presentation: 22 oz bomber from the brewery. Nice and fresh, as the keg was tapped only a couple days ago.
Appearance: cloudy golden color, with a fluffy beige head with good lacing
Aroma: a sweet citrus smell with lemon and caramel, and coriander.
Taste and Mouth feel: A citrus and yeasty brew, with a good sweet malt. Then the coriander and white pepper hits with the dry aftertaste. This is a bit warm from the high alcohol content, but it has a smooth mouth feel.
Drinkability: This is a delightful wit the high alcohol version of Portsmouths very fine wit. The 7.5 ABV makes it a bit unlike most other witbiers. So, while I could certainly see drinking a few of these, it is not a session beer, like most wits.

Here's how great this beer is. We went to The Brewery for dinner the other night, and the Imperial Stout was in. I thought I'd have one of the double wit, then switch to the stout. Never made it to the stout (but I will get to it soon). The beer was served in a tumbler. It was a hazy orange color with a fairly small head, but some nice lacing. It had a fruity, spicy aroma. A spicy, mildly fruity taste, with some late peppery warmth. Solid mouthfeel, a really enjoyable beer.

12oz pour into a wine glass at Spuyten Duyvil's Smuttynose Night, 1/24/07, $5. Listed as 9% ABV.
Hazy orangy-amber, dark for a wit, tiny head with some nice sticky lacing.
Fruit-forward aroma predominantly dried apricots and orange, coriander. These flavors hit first and beautifully in a soft creamy super-refreshing mouthfeel. Wonderful. Finish is long and dry, with a plate-smacking bitterness, is it hops or coriander seed husks? Alcohol well-integrated. Really nice.

I would like to thank purplehops for sending this beer to me as part of BC-2. The beer was served in an Imperial Nonic.
Appearance: This beer pours a cloudy golden coloration. The head is about 2 fingers high. The head is fluffy and biege and eventually resolves to a rocky ring of foam. Thick rings of lacing remain behind on my glass.
Smell: The beer delivers a very nice sweet citrus and subdued peppery coriander. The beer is sweetly bready smelling almost bordering on doughnuts sweetness.
Taste: The beer delivers a tart lemony flavor. This gives way to very sweet malty breadyness. The beer then goes full on with spices peppery coriander, cloves citrus zest and alcohol, as well as, some other unidentifiables. This beer is very tasty. I wonder when this was bottled?
Mouthfeel/ Drinkability: This beer is well into the medium bodied category. The carbonation seems to fall a bit flat; however, I am really enjoying a nearly oily flavor retention. This is a very enjoyable beer. I would very much be interested in other beers from Portsmouth.
