22oz bottle purchased at their store.

Pours a clear amber color with a decent sized creamy looking head, fades at a decent rate and leaves some good patchy lacing along the glass.

Smell is a decent mix of sweet malt and light floral hops, nothing too special or outstanding though.

Taste is a weird combination of malt and hops, the hops have a weird bitterness in the aftertaste that isn't too pleasant.

22oz bottle purchased at the brewery on 6/12/09. Poured into a Portsmouth goblet

A - Pours a crystal clear, deep amber with a thin, off-white head. Head lingers a little leaving a thin layer of bubbles. Amazing lacing left behind - very nice.

S - Trying really hard, but not detecting much of anything. Just the slightest of floral hops comes through - I mean slight, I'm reaching for something here. Hard to believe how little aroma there is here.

T - Crisp, sharp bitterness. Some floral, spicy hop flavor and some balancing caramel malt flavors to balance things out. Some bready malt flavors come thru too. Nicely balanced flavors - very good overall.

M - Medium bodied, well carbonated. As expected for an American Pale Ale.

D - Overall, a pretty drinkable beer. Smooth, well rounded flavors, not overpowering alcohol content. Sitting at the bar in Portsmouth, it would be pretty difficult to stay here with all of the other beers available, but I would gladly have a few of these in absence of that type of variety.

Stopped by the Brewery today (25MAY09) with Alewife, Caitlin and the Scheister for lunch. First round was this new bier, Bravo Pale Ale...

My Imperial pint glass was filled with a clear, deep copper hued liquid. Had sporadic carbo, and the head was light beige, creamy and fine, with top-shelf stick. Nose was verry restrained, with some subtle floral hopping. Body was nicely in the medium range, and though with a smidge of prickliness, still fairly smooth on the tongue.

Flavor is hard to put a finger on. I hear that this is a relatively new hop strain, and I'm struggling to nail the tastes down. There is a bit of toastiness here, but then it gets into new territory. Light fruitiness, chalky dryness, a lemony rindy quality, perhaps even some minty characteristics... Definitely something different is going on here. Fairly good, overall, though I may need some time to get into this kind of hop. Interesting, but...

Prosit!!
