On-tap at the brewpub.
A - Pours a darker golden yellow color, white frothy head, good lacing, thick collar, thin cap.
S - Light in the hoppy department, malts, slight sweetness.
T - Same as the nose. More malt-forward, UK style, then an APA.
M - Light, refreshing, easy to drink, good carbonation.
O - Meh, it was okay, nothing special. I would rather see more hops and less malts in my APA.

Fizzy 1 finger head fades at a med pace, little lacing, clear yellowish slight carrot orange color.
Nose has very light malts, some slight earthy and bit herbal UK style bittering hops touch of fruity hops as well.
Taste had a mild grassy slight herbal and touch fruity hop, a bit of bitterness that ramps a bit, bit of grainy malts, semi sweet. Finishes a bit more bitter, light lingering hops, bit of malts as well.
Mouth is med to slightly lighter bodied dec carb.

Poured into a pilsner glass. Nice light golden color that is only slightly hazy, allowing for all the tiny little bubbles that race to the top to be visible. There is plenty of sticky lacing left after the relatively large head dissipates.
The aroma yields caramel malt and bread with a distinctive beer yeast twang. There is a lightly zesty hop aroma as well.
The taste is largely of graham cracker and is on the sweeter side. The finish reveals a slight bit of hop zest. Make no mistake; this is a malty pale ale.
The mouthfeel is light to medium with mellow carbonation.
This isn't bad but it's a little too sweet for me. A nice beer to have on tap for sure (I know I drank it from the bottle).

Made a stop at the brewery while in the area. Was shocked to find a beer that I had not heard of, Retro Pale Ale. This was brewed for the 20th anniversary and is one of their oriignal recipes/beers. They debuted it last night. Brewed with only two malts (one of them being Crystal 77) and two hops (one of them being cascade), this clocks in at a very sessionable 5% ABV and 40 IBU's. Poured into my Duvel tulip.
A - Pours a crystal clear copper pour with a nice two finger head that faded to leave a nice white halo and good wisps atop.
S - Only knock on the beer would be I dont get enough out of the aroma. I get some burnt sugary malts and some very light grassy hop notes. Nothing very assertive about this aroma.
T - Similar to the nose but more intense. Theres some nice sweetness upfront from the malts, good light carmel and burnt notes. All this leads way to some light bitter hops that are inmistakeably Cascade and some light grass notes. Nice light bitter finish.
M - Really like this mouthfeel. Light body, crisp finish. Definately sessionable and refreshing.
O - I enjoyed this beer. While it may not be a knock your socks off APA its still a good offering, which happens to be my first sampling of Portsmouth. This goes to show what you can do with a few good ingredients and what helped pave the way for more offerings from the brewery.
