Picked up a bomber from the Portsmouth Brewery store. Poured in a shaker pint, the beer is a light, hazelnut brown coloring with a sparse, light head surface coating. Appears bright and thin on the pour. Aromas of nutty sweetness, with a dark, slightly bitter chocolate highlight. The nose is well balanced. Flavors are roasted, with a bitter chocolate backbone and some mild pepper spicing at the tail end of the palate. The aftertaste brings forth more of the spicy and chocolate blending, leading to a smooth, crisp, clean finish. Interesting take on the Porter, and it's going great with out taco dinner this evening.

First had: on tap at Portsmouth Brewery
I think the idea here might have been a chili pepper porter, but if that was the case, I really didn't get anything distinctive from this fairly average brew. Poured a dark brown with a small collar of bubbles. Smelled of a basic porter, dark malts, medium roast, notes of coffee and cocoa. More of the same in the taste, with a general dark malt roastiness being the main factor, light notes of coffee bitterness and a slight vegetal presence. Nothing to write home about. Medium body. Drinkable, but not memorable.
