Brewed in conjunction with a special event during craft brew week. It appeared to be a hazy, toffee colored brew, with a finger of a light brown, almost beige head. More transparent than the average porter. The smell was fantastic, mix of molasses, coffee and ginger, and more importantly the smell was balanced, complex. Unfortunately the taste was not. Instead of balance it tasted like a mouth full of ginger with a very, very slight aftertaste of something roasted. This was the disappointment, unless you really like ginger, but if you are expecting the usual decadent complexity from Portsmouth Brewery you will be disappointed with the taste. Mouthfeel with light and sharp, but unnaturally so for a porter.
