A new offering on tap at the Portsmouth Brewery. From what I understand, "Fürze" is the german word for "farts". What the connection is with this bier I'll never know!
The Fürze pours an extremely dark brown color, with the faintest glimmers of some chestnut trying to come through the very opaque brew. The head was quite thin, fine and tight, with decent lacing.
The nose was quite mild, exhibiting just faint notes of roasty dark malts and bitterness.
I found the body to be just a tiny bit to the thin side of medium, and it was a little rough passing over the tongue.
The flavor was predominantly that of roasty malts and dark, bitter chocolate. The finish was dry, with more bitter, burnt chocolate notes. A pretty good interpretation of the style, and not done too frequently around here. Prosit!!
