Urban Anomaly American Stout w/ Toasted Coconut is a delicious blend of our Urban Anomaly recipe with toasted coconut, adding layers of flavor. Notes of chocolate, coffee and a hint of smoked malt character that add an element on depth and complexity while encouraging the next sip.

Purchased: April 22, 2021
Consumed: April 22, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Feb. 23, 2021
Had been wanting to go to Valley Farm Market for quite some time and actually went there today after going the wrong way coming back from golfing in Chula Vista. Got off the 94E to turn around and saw this, so pulled in and picked up a few things. Had heard of Crowns & Hops as I think some stores in San Diego County were getting some of their stuff out of semi-nearby Torrance. Back of the can read “One of the most delicious ingredients to add to a stout is toasted coconut. Island Anomaly includes notes of chocolate, coffee and mild smoke, which pairs perfectly with the toasted coconut making this beer straight FIRE.”
Poured a pittch-black color with 1-to-2 fingers of tan fizzy head, which dissipated quickly. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent foamy lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled black coffee, dark chocolate, toasted coconut, cacao, semi-char wood and molasses. Not quite as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got black coffee, dark chocolate syrup, toasted coconut, cacao, semi-char wood, roasted malts and molasses. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Just an outstanding stout overall. (Overall - 4.00)
