From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: June 1, 2021
Consumed: June 3, 2021
Misc.: Collab with J. Wakefield; Canned on April 27, 2021
Came across this one on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Had tried one beer from Crown & Hops before, giving a stout called Island Anomaly a 4.00 on Untappd on April 22, 2021. Instagrabbed this one when I saw J. Wakefield was involved. Untappd description called this “Hazy Double IPA brewed with Strata, Mosaic & Galaxy. A huge tropical banger with big notes of guava, citrus and stone fruit. The J. Wakefield team is one of our oldest friends in the craft beer game. JW with head Brewer Maria are superstars in the craft community and mentors to us as a brand. We’re so very proud to showcase our alignment through beer.”
Poured a light golden hazy color with three fingers of frothy white head. Plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled pretty damn good right away. Got all three mentioned hops, in order Mosaic, Strata and Galaxy. Also got strawberry, raspberry, rose blossom, passion fruit, nectarine, peach, red grapefruit and bubblegum. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose but still solid. In order got Mosaic, floral, rose blossom, strawberry, raspberry, Strata, Galaxy, tropical passion fruit, nectarine, peach, stone fruit, guava, mango, bitter red grapefruit rind and bubblegum. That 9 pct. ABV was well hidden. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy textures. Lively carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Just an excellent hazy DIPA. Glad I picked up one of these. (Overall - 4.25)
