Bought a 4-pack at Woodman's Kenosha.
While I've had only four brews from Young Blood, all are in the Belgian tradition. While the quality varied, all 4 brews have the common problem of young American crafters: it is not enough to buy a Belgian yeast. To maintain an effective house yeast, it must be cultivated in-house; that is, if a micro ever wants to get on a trajectory that competes with the masters.

Young Blood (per UnTappd) has a phenomenal 341 beers for a 30 month old micro, that's over 10 a month released! Their two cash cows have only 1,000 check-ins each; indicating how young Young Blood is. Of their beers with more than 200 ratings, most were IPAs and fruited sours; none was a Belgian, indicating they are new to brewing's minority tradition. All this tells me that Young Blood is prone to suffer from the same Belgian yeast immaturity common among young Americans.

After that Big Picture, so it goes with Art Class. How to improve it? Other than the yeast, I think more wheat will make the mouth softer and the fruity flavors more believable. It also will absorb (possibly) the onset of the lemon zest and ginger; which is well-done, but a bit too powerful for the current malt bill.

I like Young Blood. Their can copy is funny, sometimes fascinating. Their approach to brewing is thoughtful. Their brew naming is creative. And their website is extraordinarily good for a three year old. I want more Belgians from Young Blood. But next time, cultivate your Belgian wit yeast before hyping it; better to be funny than exaggerate.

9/18/22 Had at a picnic and suitable for summer fare. But if Art Class wants to graduate and get a witbier Masters of Fine Art, cultivate this yeast; particularly how it produces esters. Easy on the lemon.

10/4/22 Drank the third can and decided the above rating was a bit harsh (because I want them to get better and succeed as a Belgian-brewer.) So I improved the rating, edited the above for clarity and look forward to the 4th of the 4-pack.
