Served on tap into a 16 oz (473 ml) conical pint glass at Legends in Southold, NY (LI).
A: Pours a nearly clear, copper color with a no more than half finger, white head which quickly dissipates to a bare rim and little lacing.
S: Aroma is very light caramel and maybe a whiff of pumpernickel.
T: Dry. Caramel and nougat flavors predominate, but really more watery than malty. A cola-like quality. Light bitterness becomes stronger as it warms and there is a nougat aftertaste.
M: Light bodied with low effervesce. Watery without being refreshing.
O: Lagers are hard to make and I understand that, so I will be constructive. Perhaps this was just not lagered for long enough, or the formula needs to be tweaked, or something else, but I really did not enjoy this one. Spicy food, when it arrived at the table, was a bit of a relief and it was fine with that.
