An homage to the pioneering American ale style that sought to pair Pacific Northwest hops with pleasant malt and roast, behold the Cascadian Dark Lager. Dark malts, subtle roast, and generous doses of Chinook, Cascade, and Columbus Cryo hops fermented cold and lagered for a long time even colder. Pine, herbs, and citrus pop on top of a complex malt undertone at a respectable 6.8% abv.

Dark brown, roast and slight cola notes on the nose. The finish is excellent with roast, chocolate, and a hoppy punch. But the initial taste is unusual. Kind of dusty tasting at first. Other than that, a really nice beer.

Pours an effervescent Cola color a thumb of tan head. Good head retention and better lacing
S: Some roastiness a little bit of pine
T: Roasty grain and Pine, plus dryness, a little smokiness slight sweetness up front. Some sweetness, roastiness and pineiness as this beer warms up,slight sweetness as well. Finishes dry and roasty with a slight molasses sweetness
MF; Medium body with low carbonation, pretty good balance
Interesting beer with good flavor a little hard to drink but worth it

I had this on draft 2/22/24 @ the Hopleaf.
Brown/black appearance.
Nice tan head; minimal lacing remained.
Medium roast coffee bean & mint notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Medium roast coffee bean flavors up front; minty hop notes on the finish. Faint booze heat emerged as this warmed.
A bit green, maybe? An interesting experiment, but this one didn't work for me.

This is really delicious! The sweet & roasty malts balance really well with all the "C" hops used to brew this beer.
