Drunk fresh at the source in September 2023.

L: Bright copper-brown with yellow highlights. Bright-white, fluffy head. A small amount of large-bubbled carbonation moves slowly up the glass.

S: Mild toffee and minerality. Otherwise, it's quite nondescript.

T: Sweet toffee with a roasty, burnt note. Bitterness hangs around after the swallow. Very nice!

M: Quite high carbonic prickle that works well with the long bitter finish.

O: A very nice Märzen that's perhaps more bitter than expected, but that seems to add to the overall package.

Cheers!

Yields a glowing, crystal clear amber-light brown color with a huge, mohagony colored head.

Smell is of toffee, whole grain bread and mowed hay with faint grass pellets.

Inherits a well accentuated, refreshing carbonation, putting the light bodied beer in the right light.

Tastes of coppery toffee from the very beginning, together with dried oats and barley. Brings some caramel to the palate then, with just a faint dry hop glimps, manifesting its overall sweeter character. Finishes malty, a bit metallic with enough grains cutting through to prevent this from getting one-dimensional, but creating a rustic aftertaste instead.

This is certainly an interesting interpretation of a Märzen, which leans on its caramel malt foundation quite a bit. The beer still drinks easy and refreshing with a nice complexity going on, making this quite enjoyable.

From the half liter bottle, it pours amber with a very nice head. The nose is lightly malty. Malty flavor with a nice finish. Enjoyable and easy to drink.

2019 Update: Yum!!

A nice orangy amber-colour with a decent head and good lacing.

Compared to other Märzen's the nose on this one is a bit more fruity, heading into a sour direction. Malt is spicy and slightly caramel-like. There is an unusual undertone to the nose that is somewhat like vegetables, cabbage maybe.

Less sweet than expected when tasted. Malt is salty and rather spicy and imparts some toasted flavors in the finish. An earthy, hoppy flavor pops up that turns bitter in the end.

A bit too low on carbonation and a soft mouthfeel.
