Welcoming milk chocolate and malt aromas lead the smooth, creamy length. Soft rye complexity, light liquorice and roast touches segue into balancing dark chocolate bitterness, closing dry and moreish. Once an indulgence we kept to ourselves, our Chocolate Rye Oatmeal Stout is now yours to enjoy.

Almost 5 years old, this stout is the first brew added on BA. This is their most rated brew on Untappd (236) who lists 63 Impi beers. So Impi exists. Their small taproom is in Perth, contributing to Western Australia's fast-growing beer culture. Not a lot is revealed on Impi's website, so maybe I can give them a micro-review in future years.
As for this Oatmeal Stout (how Untappd styles it), it is interesting. First, Impi ties the brew to Africa's chocolate production (and they share an ocean.) It is a common stout that doesn't try to do too much, which is wise for a warm climate. And its Looks and Smells are only slightly above average. While there is licorice in there, Tastes are balanced and doesn't push the envelope. (Many American Stouts do.) While milky soft, it is light-mouthed even at 5.2 ABV. Good to have once.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
