Bottle pour at Mountain Brewers Beer Fest. Amber pour, thin off-white head. Malty aroma, toasty, dry. Taste is toasted malts, nutty, earthy, smooth finiah.

nice beer, the essence of simplicity, nice to see something english in a modern brewery, i feel like these styles are dying, i was pumped on this one. real light as these go, fully golden, maybe brass toned at the darkest, but nowhere near amber or anything like that, lighter than most, and nice and clear. simple malt bill here, the maris otter thing, maybe a pinch of honey malt or something, but this is pale and basic, toasted and biscuity, medium full but very soft, a little protein body to it i reckon, but mellow, drier at the end, fresher than these usually present, and very nicely balanced overall. the hops maybe are slightly more robust or more northwestern than the old world examples of the style, faint citrus to this, but also familiar grassy bitterness on the back end, would not describe this as hoppy overall, very pleasant and well proportioned the whole drink. a lightly bready but tempered english ale yeast at work no doubt, the finish is clean here, but it highlights the malts really well. this ends up being light but still rather traditional, incredibly drinkable, nice and low on abv and clean and fast really, with excited carbonation. good to see one of these on a beer menu, all too uncommon nowadays...
