2022 vintage; consumed on 6/28/2023

Pours a murky, off-black body capped with a finger and a half of sudsy, dark khaki-hued foam: decent head retention yields a spotty, short-lived layer of cap, a thin, frothy collar, and a sparse few strands of lacing holding with little longevity to the walls of the glass.

Aromas of caramel pound cake find touches of charry oak, with dark cherry residuals meshing with hints of fig as toffee lingers through the closing impressions.

Taste brings dark fruit, caramel, and tinges of leather as barrel char grazes the mid-palate to notes of raisin, burnt cocoa and smoked toffee on the back end of the profile.

Mouthfeel shows a body on the lighter end of medium and minimal carbonation; taut texturing and a subtle roast profile grazes the mid-palate, with barrel warmth on the back end guiding a drying finish.

A base quad sweetness overwrought with charry barrel overtones, trending unusually roasty as a steady character expresses inconsistently; easygoing delivery of a solid profile.

Thank, Chris and Cassidy.

A dark brown with minimal head or lacing. The nose is rich with loads of dark fruit and dried fruit, a blend of earth, raisins, currants, red wine and yeast and spice. Lots of brown sugar but still restrained. The palate is sweet from the vanilla and brown sugar from the barrel but comparitively light, heft-wise, with the base beer drier than an American quad but still sweeter than a Belgian one. Nice barrel character. Lovely mouthfeel.

This one pours a dark brown-ish color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like bready malt, clove, caramel, toffee, chocolate, and oak.

This is less quad-like and more just straight up barleywine-esque, which is fine with me in the end. There's a bit of clove like bitterness, and that's the only quad-like characteristic I can find. There's lots of boozy breadiness, caramel, toffee, a dusting of chocolate, and lots of spicy oak character, though.

This is medium bodied, slightly boozy, but not overwhelmingly so, with a nice enough drinkability.

This is somewhere in the middle for this brewery, but still a really excellent barrel aged beer nonetheless.

A: Decants along the beating emissions to evoke a Chocolate Cosmo hue, while toning a dark Byzantium shade, aside the old mauve highlights. The neck is minor in output with a beige tinge to the low retention, which is spaced at the brim to be negated over time. Additionally, an awareness on heat that curates a nexus, by designing teary fingers in the (>1.75/2) peregrination

S: Ethyl acetates provide a dominate opening to the cask webbings on doughy malt, while escorting a light hop bitterness. There is a fragility on Croquembouche under the ripening of fruit instrumentals, which strum a sizeable sweetness all over. To be specific, a hexanoate rendering on the skins of red apples, while extracts derive out of jujubes & plums with an orange tipoff near red currants. The esters continually back the profile thru an acetate means, and further the senses with a phenylethyl likeness. Moreover, a barrel presence that superintends the advances along lipid entitlements, while phenols work off of yeast and cask derivatives. There are rising elements in dulcified figs beyond FruitTape, as phenolic natures address the vanillin compounds over licorice. Secondly, an oak staved existence that carries tannin chucks thru leathery dossiers, and an aridness for veneering delicately smoked – dry – remnants against pig skin. The yeast component is weighty amid the directions, as malt softly builds near the late barrel components, while heat influences the dying inclinations

T: Bourbon imbeds the grain bill with a smooth finesse, as esters dictate the gustation above a low – spiced – bitterness. The observations encompass a liquored application over concord grapes and Brach's Raisins, at a time when prunes emit a concentrated/sticky sweetness. A bready malt uptrend curtails the presetting sharpness thru a delicate sleekness, when reporting an inconspicuous nuttiness on Panettone, while undertones whisper a mild nutmeg to aniseed attendance. In the interim, a kick to an elevated awareness, for a woodsier setting, amid the dark & dried fruit couriers. There’s a strong note on singed buckskin to neighbor apricot brandy, while channeling cherry cigarillos. Sequentially, a scorchedness on polymers that implicate a maltol caramelization over the vanillin, when slowly building the dry – furfural – complexities. This juncture has been aired & stretched across temperate – sensible – intervals, which pull exotic leathers above lizards, while progressing that woodsier setting with an inferno prompt. Simultaneously, an oak directive on mild baking spices to dried (old) chocolate stains, as tarry skins enact on (the roofs of) dilapidated houses

M: A warming configuration that has a semi-burn on involvedness, aside a light hydrolyzable astringency. Yet, avoids roughhousing the directive per the smooth (perpetuating) roundness @ >2. Moreover, the decant(s) timing is cuddled with the calming degrees of open air in stretched intervals, which attribute a moderate parchedness on tannin furtherance. To that end, a sharp ride that’s attenuated in time, given the semi-dry shrewdness

O: The 20% Barleywine incorporation labors well against the Belgian Quad. An approach that enriches the malt bill under the cask outposts, while esters amalgamate the hop effect. On account of this, a flexible Quadruple that’s been reworked favorably, given the dark fruit webs to the peppery phenols under the barrel integrations, besides a late – young – port ebb
