Taster at Alefort. Dark brown pour, thin beige head. Roasty, nutty aroma. Taste is burnt toast, nutty, woody with a mild bitter finish. Good feel all around

a very basic but also very well made porter, most of the beers here have been excellent so far, and while i could stand to see a little more weirdness and inspiration in the brew house, i cannot complain about the quality, this is real well done. medium brown in color with a short off white head in the shaker pint from the tap at the source. fizzy carbonation is neat to see in the style, and it carries the aroma of dark chocolate and toasted bread to my nose, simple but fresh, maybe slightly european on the grain side, but nothing really from the yeast and a very tame hopping, this is about the roast, which is medium and not bringing much bitterness, simple beer, but not one dimensional either. the flavor is chocolate malt forward more than the roast i smell, but both layers of the grain composition are evident and they work predictably well together. i like this being fermented as dry as it is, just short of crisp even, and the body is light so its real drinkable for the style. nice with their woodfired pizzas and honestly a solid all around basic porter that they should be proud of. nice to see some new flavors on the menu during our recent visit.
