Our farewell to summer! We've brewed up this sour ale conditioned on watermelon juice in collaboration with Raney Cellars Brewing Company. It is bright, sour and refreshing, especially on a warm fall day!

I only get one day off a week & it is Friday so I hie down to OTB & grab a Crowler or several of whatever the latest release(s) may be. I set this one aside specifically to celebrate #HappyWatermelonWednesday because I #BumptheHump & this is how I do it!
From the Crowler (CAN): "9-26".
I Crack!ed open the vent on this ginormous Crowler & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug over the sink to avoid any potential mess caused by dribbling, which is a CANmon ocCANurrence in this serving style. I was successful in that a) there was no dribbling & b) I got a rolling, fizzy, foamy finger of bone-white head for my effort. It quickly faded to wisps, but such is the nature of Sour beers. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose had a pleasant, but not overwhelming watermelon bouquet with a piquant tartness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was Thin-to-medium, not watery, but not much past it, either. The taste was very tart with a modicum of watermelon flavor. It was not Jolly Rancher intense in terms of either its tartness or its watermelon flavor & frankly, I was thankful for/about both. Watermelon flavor CAN go a LONG way in beer, to the point of diminishing returns in terms of my enjoyment. In this case, it was just about right. The fruit flavor was present & identifiable without being over-the-top or overwhelming. I was drinking it a bit later in the Fall than they probably would have liked as it was cool rather than warm, but it was still very refreshing. Finish was semi-dry & refreshing, as I stated. YMMV.
