Poured into shaker pint. Thin head that doesn't stick around. Dark ruby-brown.
Chemical scent on the nose at first. As it warms, a malty sweetness comes out
Taste follows with a bit of roast. Light hop note. Mild is the key term here.
Mild medium body.
This example is on the darker, roastier end, not unlike an English brown ale (I mean, it is brown and it is ale). The only other review here had me apprehensive, but this can turned out pretty good.

I hate to do this, but it must be done to warm others. Its stablemate Cowboy Cowboy is quite good, however Top Bins might be the worst beer I've had from a taproom in all my life. What happened? On to the beer:
I love seeing a brewery attempt a mild ale, as the style is rare stateside and less forgiving to make. I ordered a pint and got a good looking, dark leather brown color with a small head above. One smell and I was thrown off. Unpleasant and not even close to what I would expect from a mild. Maybe it needed to warm up to be better. To be fair, the beer was served very cold, and too cold in my opinion because the chill was harsh on my palate.
A mild ale should be lean, toasty, a little sweet, and appetizing. Top Bins belong in the bin. It tastes like rubbing alcohol and sour melon, as I thought someone forgot to clean the tapline of an imperial fruited sour and this light style of beer became infected with the residue from the dirty tapline. It tasted nothing like a mild ale and warming it up did not improve the situation. I forced myself to drink half before I decided to pour the rest out and refresh. This beer killed my mood at the taproom.
