Served in a tumbler at Mundelein Brewfest 2014.
Stayin' put at the Onion corner to try out a grapefruit radler, a welcome distraction in this sun. It pours a mostly clear pale brass topped by a half-finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises muted grapefruit soda (or sparkling grapefruit juice...whichever), light barley, very light hard water, and a couple drops of what may or may not be peach juice. The taste brings in more of the same, the grapefruit certainly muted in character but still projecting a sense of sweet syrup. Not bad, actually, considering how easy it could have been to overdo it on the grapefruit. The body is a light medium, with a light carbonation and a slightly syrupy feel. Overall, a solid little radler, not necessarily something I would partake in often, even in the summer months, but something I could see indulging in every now and again for the sake of variety.
