holy cow what an introduction to an unheard of brewery, whoa! this is a green colored pour in here, not neon or anything, not even as bright as some i have had from fantome have been, but its not mucky or gross looking either, its a pleasant green, not a ton of head, but immediately intriguing, what the heck is this?! its a coconut and matcha brew as the name suggests, but the brew it with coconut water as the main brewing liquid, like in the mash and stuff i think, instead of actual water, just insane and awesome! its then done with coconut, matcha powder, and vanilla, a bit of hops, and really melds together as something very special and unique. the tea adds intense earthiness as the low end to this, bitter in the flavor, healthful, a spirulina green taste to it, like pure chlorophyll, oddly appealing, and a nice counterpoint to sweeter, although very natural, coconut and vanilla. tons more coconut than vanilla though, fleshy and ripe and milky without being toasted or candied or anything at all, its there for all the senses, start to finish. the matcha pairing is smart, great juxtaposition there, and the vanilla and hops really round it out and make it complex. enough from the grain for this to seem beery too, not so much a health drink, although its on the line i guess. i love the effort here, and even if this could be brighter looking in the glass, headier, more carbonated, refined, whatever, its a stunning offering really, and i imagine will only improve as these guys mature into their spot. incredibly ambitious and well executed, get these guys on your radar if they arent already, everything was thoughtful and delicious! one of the weirdest beers i had this year!
