billed as a triple ipa, decidedly massive, with a boatload of different hops, but also really well refined for its size surprisingly, with some malt balance but no unnecessary sweetness, and actually not all that hotly alcoholic, given its strength. not usually the kind of ipa i reach for, but this works on a number of levels. the freshness is key, straight from the tap at the source surely is the best way to enjoy this one, the dry hop profile is bold but not green or harsh, close to that saturation line but not over it, nice. there is also a fun fruitiness to this that is well beyond citrus, maybe some southern hemisphere hops in the mix doing this, but its got layers, more as it warms too, i think the hops come through as somewhat unique, not just piney and grapefruity and bitter, which is sort of par for the course on these, generally speaking. a little honey thing from the grain offsets a little alcohol, the hops have a fuller oily feel they contribute to this, i like that, more west coasty even though it appears hazy too. it sounds like a kitchen sink beer, but its actually got pretty good attention to detail and a definite synergy in the hop profile from all the different varietals. one and done for me, but tasty to sip on and pass around with the boys! no bad beers in here.
