perhaps my favorite of all the beers we drank in here, a hearty stout with cinnamon and maple, so much to like about this! first, its not a massive beer, full bodied and rich and all, but the alcohol doesnt kill me, which means i can have a couple, or at least one and not be committed to intoxication immediately, i appreciate that so much, and wish bold stouts like this came in slightly smaller packages more commonly, awesome! another thing to like is that this isnt sugary, no lactose for one, but also fermented pretty dry for having maple syrup in it, which can still be fully appreciated but doesnt cling to the teeth or anything, really enjoy the way this is actually drinkable, so many of these are sweet to the point of being a novelty. finally, i think the base beer is awesome, and its not just good because they packed it with flavors, the fermentation is complete, the malt is nicely layered, and there is great depth even without the cinnamon and maple. i like pairing these two extras though too, no chili peppers, no barrel, no coffee, vanilla bean, whatever, everyone always wants to go kitchen sink with these, and i think its cool to just focus on two things, it works. this is amazing fall beer, pretty in the glass, viscous with high shine, warming in the nose with the toasted cinnamon on the dark grain, and balanced and complex in flavor, with the richness of the maple, the bitterness of the dark barley, and the spicy cinnamon all coming together really brilliantly. its full and smooth, soft yet sturdy, and just feels rare and fancy to me as i drink it. this guys are doing an amazing job, especially for being so new to the scene here, super impressive top to bottom, beer and food. this one is special!
