Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a half finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, Aroma of dark toasted malt, woody oak, cocoa and whiskey. Flavor is dark toasted malt, whiskey, oak, milk chocolate, mild dark stone fruit; malt depth thins out into a whiskey and oak finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. The barrel is the story in this porter. Lots of oakiness and whiskey notes. The malt seems a bit thin for the ABV. Tastes like a pleasant Baltic porter under the barreling but the fruit notes are subsumed into the whiskey. A porter worthy of the Oak + Age name, both are evident here. Interested in seeing what else Sig might do with barreling.
