Poured into a Seattle Beer Week glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium golden amber with coppery notes an a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of spruce on opening the can; in the glass, spruce, pale malt, piney hops and faint citrus. Flavor is spruce, pale malt, faint caramel, piney and citrus hops; spruce dominates. Lingering spruce finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Delivers what it promises: a nice spruce forward IPA experience. The base IPA seems nice and has solid West Coast pine and citrus hops, but they play second fiddle to the spruce tips. I'm a big fan of spruce IPAs and this one hits the spot. It will become an annual tradition.
