Another classic take on a classic lager. Peculier Helles is our interpretation of one of our favorite styles. Biscuit, bread crust, malt sweetness with light citrus and floral hop background. A most drinkable delight.

Grabbed a 4-pack of this, another 6-pack of a pilsner and a bunch of stouts on a recent work trip to Fort Collins, Colo. Had never heard of Peculier Brewery, which is based in Windsor, Colo. Untappd description read “Another classic take on a classic lager. Peculier Helles is our interpretation of one of our favorite styles. Poured a medium yellow clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good watery lacing. Decent bubbly retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled white bread, grass, cereal grain, biscuit, Noble hops, hints of black pepper, floral and corn malts. Something in the nose that I don’t quite like though. Much better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted better than the nose. Got white bread, biscuit, grass, cereal grain, hints of bitter aspirin, Noble hops, black pepper, floral, a hint of lemon zest and corn malt. (Taste - 4.00)

Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Dry, somewhat bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)

This was a very good Helles. I have to say not quite as good as I hoped, but still solid. (Overall - 4.00)
