Art History's Flagship Beer. Czech-style Pale Lager, aka Czech Pilsner. Gravitace is a golden colored lager brewed with Czech pilsner malt which lends a shortbread-like malt character. Authentic Plzen (Pilsen) yeast gives this beer a spicy character while the Zuper Saaz hops lend a fruity and bitter flavor. It is lagered for 4 weeks after a cold fermentation

16 oz can "Canned on 12/29/23" and poured into a dimpled mug shows a cloudy, near opaque, orange-gold body and supports a 1/2" head of white foam that falls to a persistent thin cap and leaves a mostly clean glass behind.

Aromas and flavors include spicy hop, grassy yeast, and bready malt with a hint of citrus.

This is no light beer: on the heavier end of medium and a higher abv (5.4%) than is expected in the style. I would not drink more than two of these at a sitting.

Overall a nice beer, just not quite to style.

16 oz can into a mug. Clear golden color with a decently-sized fluffy white head. Cracker, spicy hops, faint lemon citrus aroma. Taste follows, with the spicy hop bitterness lingering well into the aftertaste. Medium-light feel.

2/16/25 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased at store temperature November 27, 2024 at Beer on the Wall Park Ridge for $3.98 including tax. Refrigerated upon returning home before opening this afternoon. 16 oz, canned 10/30/24. 5.1% ABV, 12 Plato Czech Style Pale Lager. Brewers Notes: Floor Malted Bohemian Malt, Zuper Saaz Hops. Keep Refrigerated below 37 F. Brewed and Packaged for Art History at Geneva Lager Works, Geneva, Illinois.

Appearance: Slow poured three quarters of the can into a large mug, yielding a creamy full rich bright white head over a crystal clear golden yellow base. Mild carbonation, head leaves soapy lacing and a creamy rich cover over the base. 4.5

Aroma: Cracker, light salt and pepper lead, backed by wild flowers and, grass. Medium plus strength, slightly higher in enjoyment. 4.0

Taste: Consistent with the aroma, though bolder with a nice salt, pepper soda cracker lead, grass and wild flowers much less prominent though still chilling. Also getting some honey taste, really enjoying. Vert nice. 4.25

Mouthfeel: Light and easy drinking, below the ABV. Carbonation consistently gentle, dry and lightly bitter overall, nice hop balance at least for me. Salt pepper cracker start to finish. 4.5

Overall: Not much left in the glass, was gulping this down and really enjoying. Hits all the expected notes, held up well over 3 1/2 months, would highly recommend and buy down the road. Another winner by Art History! 4.5

16oz can, dated 03.06.2024, poured into a 16oz tumbler glass. Enjoyed on 03.23.2024, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a bright golden color, honey and light amber hues, clear with many bubbles rising to the top of the glass where a fluffy white head rests with great retention and lacing. The aroma is great, green, earthy, herbal with a nice bright floral quality, soft lemon, pale grain and mineral water. The flavors are good, zesty and bitter earthy green hop, nicely floral, grassy, citrus peel, dough, cereal grain, and mineral water. The mouthfeel is good, coating, lively medium body, very crisp and dry finish.

Verdict: A very nice Czech Pale Lager/Pils from Art History. Bright, earthy, crisp, super well balanced and very refreshing.

Clear golden in color with a tight white head. Aroma is bread and white grape. Taste is bread and a bit of black tea. Very dry. Body is light and crisp. This is one of my favorite everyday beers.

poured from a 16oz can into a new glarus dimpled mug. pours a chill-hazed straw gold with two fingers of firm white foam head. white bread and crackers on the nose and taste with a hint of earthy hops. maybe a little lemon and hay as well. it’s pretty clean and easy drinking but it does carry some weight with it at 5.5% and the mouthfeel is less carbonated than a czech pils. really good stuff.

Aggressive pour yields quite a nice head; its got some decent legs and that initial pour left some good lacing and thick islands remain, clear but with a substantial haze, darker shaded pale in color.

Snappy nose on this beer, there is an immediate fresh cut grassy bite to it, malt is a good mix of both cracker and fresh bread, herbal touch on the finish, a little bit of spice too.

The taste leans heavily into those grassy hops, big time; malt shows more bread presence than the nose suggested, hops really linger on this one.

Light, but slowly verging to medium body; moderately dry, lingering hop feel coats the tongue with a moderate amount of bitterness, the carbonation is medium and smooth.

Clear burnt gold with a fluffy white head.

More than solid and a great accompaniment to Pelican at DLD (thanks Kevin!), this exudes some toasty corn nuts and a clean, slightly herbal bitterness that crushes with a mild froth.

Canned 2-22-23, notes taken on 4-24-23. 16 ounce can poured into a tall Becher. 5.1 ABV on the can, but AH website reports 5.5.

L -- Clear gold -- not quite pale yellow, with a dense, sudsy white head that holds up well.

S -- Herbal hops, light DMS, a lighter touch of citrus, light doughy malts back.

T -- Herbal hops up front with a nice, light touch of sweet, bready malt -- herbal hops and bitterness hold up the backbone, but the sweetish malt asserts in the finish. Bitterness turns somewhat harsh in the aftertaste, but doesn't distract from drinkability.

F -- Mouthfeel is soft to crisp with a light-medium body.

O -- A very drinkable beer in the Pils tradition. Definitely leaning to the Bohemain influence with a bigger body and heavier hop bitterness, but not palate fatiguing.
