Slightly turbid dark brown with a softly creamy tan head.
Un-shy, boldly smoky, woody, toasty brown-ish malts come with a light sweetness and a little pumpernickel cracker.
Almost as if salty, a countering soft froth makes it quite drinkable.
A little hammy but not too intensely so.

Had back to back with Bamberger Rauchbier, this one was a step below but not by much, a great new world rauchbier. Dark brown body with a tan foamy head, plenty of lacing. This one is more woody and less meaty, but has tones from the malt is a very accompanying way in both smell and taste. Brown bread more evident in nose, where tobacco and toasted caramel in the taste. Feel is lighter and very smooth but the smoke texture complexity is not as evident. Still, this is a great rauchbier, easily one of the best I have had in a while

Nice reddish chestnut color, ample foam that billows above the rim like a soufflé. The puffy tan suds have major stickage, chunky cartoonish peaks and crags of whipped meringue.
Aroma is subdued, malty and toasty with a gentle whiff of woodsmoke.
Deep toasted malt flavors, pipe tobacco, light smoke and mild bitterness in the dry finish. Medium bodied and drinkable, somewhat airy and completely dry. Light smoked malt aftertaste. Overall a nice mellow Rauchbier, perfect for late Fall weather.

I'm impressed. This is only my 10th Rauchbier and 7 have been from the Franconian masters. And while Good Night Bamberg doesn't beat all of them, Art History has produced an amazing beer... particularly since the masters have been cultivating theirs for five centuries and Art History is only two years old.
Good Night opens gently, nice foam. I like how that gentleness continues in the Smells; the smoke doesn't try to overpower and try to hide other mistakes in the brew. And in Good Night, there really are no flaws in the Taste. Balanced, sweet malts with a semi-dry finish. Medium in my mouth, this is a delight.
I'm also a big fan of Art History's cans, beautiful in their simplicity and consistent with the artistic traditions their beers evoke. I buy their beers from Beermiscuous, but their stuff is worth a visit to Geneva. Prost !

Canned 11/3/21; drank 11/17/21 @ the Yarchives.
See-through brown/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a huge tan head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Smoked bacon & burnt fall leaves on the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Smoked bacon, burnt leaves & faint caramel flavors.
Rauchbier bliss; a wonderful late fall/early winter brew.

Pours a dark, dark brown color with a thick khaki head. Aroma is strongly smoky - campfire, smoke, charred wood smoky. Malts come through on the nose but secondary to the smoke. Taste has notes of smoked malts, toasted bread, brown sugar and campfire. Its extremely reminiscent of the schlenkerla beers, however, it a touch sweeter than them and a bit hoppier although that likely has more to do with freshness. The brown sugar sweetness is lovely with the smoke. Feel is light to medium bodied, easy drinking, smooth, with a light bitterness on the finish. Overall this is a lovely racuhbier that can hold its own against the ideal German examples.
