Bohemian Pilsner, Vienna malt and Simcoe hops make for an easy drinking Belgian-style pale ale. Dry-hopped with whole cone UK Fuggles.

Canned 5/8/23; drank 6/11/23 @ the Yarchives.
See-through dull amber appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big eggshell head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace remained.
Mild apple cider & faint booze heat notes in the nose; not much there.
Medium mouthfeel.
Mild apple cider notes, with a hint of wheat dryness.
Not much flavor here at all, really...it's dull but inoffensive. I like Art History but I'll pass on this moving forward.

On tap at Hopleaf. (They are donating all net proceeds from this tap to Midwest Access Coalition which, I presume without research, provides choices to women to counter the reaction against precedence by the recent Supreme Court ruling ... which should be best ignored by intelligent humans... probably along with everything else a radicalized SCOTUS tries to decree in spite of its plummeting credibility; and we should ignore this court until it starts to considering the majority opinions of the people paying its salary.)
But, I digress. Let's return to beer... The main thing I'd add to REVZEB's review is the way the hops' drying sensation lingers. I drank this in Hopleaf's biergarten and it was wonderfully refreshing after a bike ride to Hopleaf. On the ride back home, the hops lingered; but what was most interesting was their power to add to this Friday afternoon summer sensation. Prost !
As for the high Overall rating, that is explained by a number of factors from Art History (an infant among micros) having the best labels in the business, to being an accomplished lager brewer at such a young age (under 3), to their Hopleaf relations contributing to the Overall effect.
6/20/23 Bought a second can and glad I did. First, I can temper and edit my review above a bit. Second, I can explain my high marks for Looks when this "BPA" has no foam that lasts: its color is an exquisite copper, nearly amber; (but crystal clear like a lager.) Which frankly, Verlaine reminds me of: more clean like a lager than fruity like an ale. Needs a BPA yeast; but Verlaine is just fine as an experiment from a young, accomplished lager brewer. Prost !

Clear amber body with a white head and lacing. Smells of flowers, peach, mild belgian yeast and malt. Taste starts with fig and sweet caramel malt before transitioning springy with peach, floral hops and mild yeast, malt just seems odd for the style. Feel is wetter than expected, though finish dries out a bit, medium-light bodied but no yeast or hop character to really excite. Forgettable but paired decently with fresh younger gouda
