Brewed with Chevalier Heritage malt, Target, Olicana and Harlequin hops. Modern British hops deliver a tropical fruit aroma supported by the biscuit flavor of a historical malt varietal. Fermented with an authentic Burton yeast.

Very good at brewpub as well as at home on cask via beer engine. Excellent real ale. Conditioning leaves a fine lace on glass with a soft mouth character. No forced gas throat burn here. Some fruity malt character is enhanced by the yeast. Hop aroma and flavor is right in line with a traditional English IPA. Yes, it's a bigger ale than a Best Bitter, but it was brewed properly and finished in style. Hop bitterness lingers on the finish. It drinks lighter than the ABV suggests. Art History is doing a wonderful job with real ale. Fans of the style should considering making the journey to get there, but check first to see what's on cask.

Appearance: Pours a rather clear golden color capped by a two finger head; good retention with webs of lacing
Smell: Biscuit, orange marmalade and passion fruit aromatics
Taste: Orange and passion fruit marmalade flavors forward with a biscuity hint of sweetness underneath; earthy bitterness, after the swallow, with a strong mineral character in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Burton yeast! Been a long time since I have tasted that; not my favorite flavor profile but interesting to revisit
Thanks, falloutsnow, for the opportunity

16 oz can mfgr 7/31/24 into a nonic pint glass.
L: SRM 4 Pours a hazed dark gold with a 11/2" white somewhat soapy head that recedes quickly to a thick skin, very light carbonation, has broken medium-thick splotchy lacing.
S: Lightly bready gently fruity, a hint of pear, distant honey with warming.
T: Fruity, dry orange, grapefruit zest throughout, light pastry dough, resin, has a slight metallic taste, a touch of biscuit malt, it is tangy, a distant lime note, and is mildly full-flavored.
F: Smooth and affably bright medium-full bodied feel with a medium-long fairly drying finish.
O: Quite fruity and refreshing. Hop forward and a little bit dry in the finish. Firm tastes, smooth feel. It is very good to excellent in its style.

Experimental and on-cask in the first release last year (although it seems like they knew the style well.)
Second release now as part of Art History's Pub Ale Series, this can is lovely, subtle and worth having again !
Maybe a bit cloudy for the style, but still inviting particularly to my nose; lemony hops and rustic malts. After its balanced fruity attack, finishes dry-like with just enough bitter. Refreshing. Cleansing with a sandwich for lunch.
I'm impressed by how much this lager-maker (in its youth) has now figured subtle ale styles (in its adolescence.). And their labels? Among the best. AHB, Good Show!

Cloudy orange body with a finger of off-white foam. Citrus for hops and English yeast dance upon the nose. Taste has more of that dry English yeast and earthy complexion, hint of sulfur, and maybe stale biscuit before leafy citrus hops, especially orange finish. Feel dries out slowly and is balanced with the bitters, pretty clean by the finish

I had this on cask 5/17/23 @ the Beer Temple.
Semi-opaque dull orange appearance.
Nice white head; frothy lace.
Fresh artisan soap, mild mango & faint honey notes in the nose.
A medium-thin mouthfeel, that was somehow creamy.
The alchemy of the cask!
Fresh flowers, mild honey, faint cream & faint pineapple flavors.
Experimental, then, for an English IPA (as the brewery claims); also quite lovely.
