Appearance - The beer was bubbly gold with a white head crowning the glass.
Smell - The nose had a heavy smoke presence with the malt in the background.
Taste - The profile was smoke heavy, making me forget this was a Helles. There was some grassy notes and a malt backbone. The smoke had some staying power with a dry finish.
Mouthfeel - The carbonation helped to reinforce the dry finish.
Overall - The base beer was smothered.

Clear straw color, appropriate for a Helles lager. Carbonation good, ongoing light bubbling. The smoke taste is very subtle, almost imperceptible. I would have hoped for more smoke in a rauchbier. That being said, I really do appreciate that Art History tried this style.

See-through dull orange/yellow appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice eggshell-colored head; strong lacing remained.
Dry leaves & faint smoke notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Dirt, leaves & faint smoke flavors.
I found this quite unpleasant.
