Clear golden body, full white head and tons of lacing. Smell has tons of herbal hops with grass, sunny grain, pale malt, and english yeast. Taste features a burst of orange and lemon, then the grain, dry yeast, and very large herbal hops. Feel is wet then pale and drier quickly, way bitter, hops are American in intensity, the aspect that verges from the style rubric the most. It is out there, but not one I would have again

This style is one of the Top Five styles that I like that American crafters rarely replicate well.
So, it is with a great deal of pleasure that one of my Top Five Favorite Chicagoland crafters has ventured into this rare territory. And they nailed it.
Art History's use of hops to balance the sweet malts is as authentic as I can remember drinking. I am carried back to punting on the Cam... even though I never did that. I cannot imagine drinking a more authentic Bitter in North America, but now I will try because I know what I've been missing. Also, the long, slightly bitter finish requires great skill to replicate.... particularly if you are primarily a lager micro as is AHB.
This is my 15th from AHB and I want more to drink.... and to admire their cans.

I had this on cask 6/19/24 @ the Beer Temple.
Mostly see-through dull orange appearance.
Big off-white head; frothy lacing remained.
Fresh flowers, soft wheat, mild perfume & faint cream notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Wood, fresh flowers, chamomile & faint cream flavors.
Big & bold for a traditional English ale; a bit big for it's britches, in fact, but it sure ain't boring!

On cask at the brewery - Geneva, IL
L: foamy, tall, white head caps a golden colored ale; lacing all the way down the glass as the drink is drunk
S: spicy/earthy/grassy hops, Belgian yeast (?), pale grain, fruit
T: grass, nutty pale grain, fruit, wildflower, honey, spicy & earthy hops
F: medium body, pleasant cask carbonation, dry & bitter finish with hops shining
O: a real treat. Great flavors, very refreshing, along with an ample amount of bitterness for the style
